Long trip in vain for Titans

ROTHERHAM Titans were made to pay for a lacklustre first-half performance as they slipped to defeat at Plymouth Albion on Saturday.

Andre Bester's men lost 21-10 having trailed 21-3 at half time, punishment for a flat-footed first 40 minutes.

Despite struggling at the wrong end of the table and fielding an injury-hit side, Albion took the initiative with a couple of tries by wing Fionn McLoughlin and one from no. 8 Sam Hocking, all converted by fly-half Alex Davies.

A penalty from Juan Pablo Socino was Rotherham's only success in the first period but they upped their game after the interval with a try by no. 8 Adam Kettle, goaled by Socino.

They had plenty of possession after that but were unable to score more points despite the home side twice being reduced to 14 men.

Titans, who sit sixth in the Championship, face another long trip to Cornish Pirates on Saturday.
