Late show earns point

ROTHERHAM United struck twice late on to grab a dramatic Boxing Day point against Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town at a packed AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The Millers looked down and out when they trailed 2-0 with a couple of minutes of normal time to go, only for substitutes Jonson Clarke-Harris and Lee Frecklington to come to the rescue.

Up to that point Steve Evans’ men had struggled to penetrate the visitors. They took the lead ten minutes before half time when James Vaughan tapped in from Sean Scannell’s low cross and when Conor Coady headed in for 2-0 just after the hour mark, Rotherham were facing their first defeat in five Championship matches.

But Clarke-Harris got his head to a superb ball in by Paul Green to halve the deficit and the Terriers were just digesting that blow when Frecklington’s drive deflected past Alex Smithies to make it 2-2 and bring the home supporters in a crowd of more than 11,000 to their feet.
