Kristie's international call

The 15-year-old from Wickersley was given the call hard on the heels of her blistering run in the English Schools Championships in Birmingham last weekend, when she was beaten to the 100m gold by a hairline two-hundredths of a second.

That was followed by a call into the official’s office at the Alexandra Stadium when she was told of her selection for the national team to take part in a youth international next weekend in Dublin.

Said proud dad Dave: “It topped what had been a fantastic weekend for Kristie.

“She now is back in training at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield in preparation for the event and for other future national meetings she is entered for in the coming weeks up and down the country.”
