Key duo in fitness race

ROTHERHAM United will run late fitness checks on top scorer Kieran Agard and midfielder Lee Frecklington before tonight's League One play-off clash with Preston at the New York Stadium.

A hamstring problem kept Agard out of Saturday's 1-1 draw in the semi-final first leg at Deepdale while Frecklington limped out of the action late on.

Another injury casualty of the game, young right-back Richard Brindley, is definitely out, joining centre-half Miles Addison and winger Nicky Adams on the treatment list.

On-loan midfield man Richie Smallwood is back available from suspension.

Millers chief Steve Evans said: "The New York Stadium will be packed and our fans have the opportunity to make the same noise the Preston supporters did.

"There's no advantage to any team at the moment, it's half time in a cup tie, if you can call it that. It’s a game of nerves, a game of steel and a game of application."

He said Agard and Frecklington had undergone intensive treatment and would be given every opportunity to be invovled.

"Whatever players we pick, we want them to give it a go and do us justice," he added.

If the teams are level, the match goes to extra time and penalties if necessary. Away goals don't count double.

Leyton Orient await the winners in the final at Wembley on Sunday, May 25.
