Jubilant Millers look forward

PROMOTED Rotherham United will start planning for life in League One today.

Preliminary discussions including manager Steve Evans and chairman Tony Stewart will take place before the players go away for a break.

The Millers celebrated promotion with a 2-0 win over Aldershot Town on Saturday in front of more than 11,000 fans at the New York Stadium.

Speaking afterwards, Evans said: "A meeting on Monday afternoon was already booked in to either discuss final plans for the play-offs or take an early look at ideas for next season if promoted.

"We'll have a chat and take the players away for a few days and let them have some sunshine and come back to the serious bits and pieces that are sanctioned ultimately by our chairman."

Saturday's victory, capped by second-half goals from Johnny Mullins and Lee Frecklington, also secured second spot, the highest position the Millers have occupied all season. It was also their fifth successive win.

Added Evans: "Promotion is a fantastic achievement. Collectively it has been a hell of an effort by everyone at Rotherham United, including the fans.

"We have had everything thrown in our way — everyone has tried to stop us — but the players have come through all that and got the rewards they deserve.

"I've had a number of promotions but this is the most special by a country mile."
