Jackett wants 'effective' January business

MANAGER Kenny Jackett is assessing how much new blood is needed in January to help put Rotherham United back on track.

Jackett and his coaching staff are using the international break to get the players refocused and ready to pick up their Championship survival fight at Derby County next weekend.

But after only one win from the opening 16 league games, the need to strengthen is obvious and the dealings in the January transfer window will be crucial.

“In every transfer window you have to be receptive and open minded,” he told the Advertiser.

“The summer is the best window to work because you can do it without the focus of matches but halfway through the season you get an opportunity to put yourself right if your team is off track – and quite clearly we're off track at the moment.

“It is and will be an opportunity and we want to make sure that if we move in January, it has to be something that's effective.

“I have my ideas how I want to play and what we need to achieve that."
