Head coach Adam Byron leaves Rotherham Titans

ROTHERHAM Titans and head coach Adam Byron have parted ways by mutual consent.

The news comes after a disappointing start to the season in National Two North culminating in last Saturday's surprise home defeat to Sheffield Tigers.

Byron joined Rotherham 12 months ago from Sheffield RUFC, where he had spent 13 years as a coach and led the Abbeydale club to two promotions.

Succeeding Steve Salvin, he steered an injury-hit Titans squad to third place last season and the hope was that there would be a stronger challenge this time, but four defeats in the opening ten games has left Rotherham 13 points behind joint leaders Sedgley Park and Fylde.

Titans said in a statement: "Adam was well liked and had the respect of everyone at Clifton Lane but sadly results have not been as we would have liked.

"We wish Adam all the best going forward."

With adequate experience already in the Rotherham ranks, it is understood the club will take its time appointing a successor.

The next match is on Saturday week away to Otley.
