Greasborough Youth score deal with Nike

A GO-AHEAD Rotherham junior club have gone from the worry of losing their home to clinching a top sponsorship deal as they look towards a bright future.

Greasbrough Youth were left looking for a new base after being dumped out of their ground at Bawtry Road when Rotherham United bought the site for a training ground project.

After some hard work by officials, Greasbrough eventually found a new base at Roughwood Road where they’ve now become established with 16 teams and have plans to develop even more.

And now they’ve signed up to a prestige sponsorship deal with blue-chip company Nike — the only club in Rotherham to do so.

Said Greasbrough chief Lee Morris: “They launched an initiative to get involved with junior clubs and we’re delighted to have become involved, being a Nike Partner Club.

“It’s fantastic news for us because it’s only a few years ago that we were left looking for somewhere to play.

“It’s a four-year deal and we’ll now have better equipment, better kit and a much brighter future as we look to develop the club even further.”

Greasbrough, who last year kicked off their maiden ladies’ team, are to launch new girls teams while the deal will also include visits to the FA’s St George’s Park in Burton along with training courses and coaching workshops for the staff.

The teams will wear the full Nike kit along their age ranges with several other benefits.

The club will also receive coaching vouchers which can be redeemed against Level 1 and 2 Youth Modules as well as 1, 2 and 3 B-Licences.

The Nike Partner Scheme is one of many benefits on offer to FA Charter Standard Community and Development clubs.

Ben Harding of Nike UK said: “We’re delighted to be working with the club from next season onwards and I feel the support that we can provide will help improve and develop the club’s coaches for the benefit of players going forwards.”
