Grant boosts junior club

JUNIOR footballers are going into the new season on a high after netting a grants boost.

Valley Juniors, based in Herringthorpe, have received a £300 donation from the MARS Milk Play Fund to buy better equipment.

Set up 11 years ago, the club provides football training to all ages and abilities and also offers members the opportunity to compete. Juniors currently have 70 members who meet weekly to develop their football skills in a fun environment.

Wayne Fielding, treasurer and coach, said: “This donation couldn't have come at a better time. Over the past year we have had an influx of new members, which is great. However, we do not have enough equipment to go round and what we do have has seen much better days.

“With this donation we can now afford to purchase new equipment and encourage more people to get involved.”

The MARS Milk Play Fund was set up to help individuals, clubs and groups to play more. The fund runs until September 30, 2014 and has ten £300 awards to donate each month. There is also a £1,000 award for the monthly People's Choice award, where the public can vote for their favourite individual, club or team.

The fund is open to residents of, and clubs and organisations based in the UK and Republic of Ireland only. Applicants must be 18 years or over and only one application will be accepted per person, club or organisation.

The fund is also giving away £1,000 of experience day vouchers and ten runners up prizes of the latest gadgets every month.

Applications can be made on the MARS Milk website www.marsmilk.co.uk
