Another shot at success for in-form golfer Charlie Daughtrey

IT has already been an excellent season for golfer Charlie Daughtrey and it could get better this weekend.

He travels to Lindrick to contest the Sheffield Amateur Matchplay where he faces Dylan Graveling in his semi-final on Sunday (9am) knowing victory will secure a place in the afternoon final.

Charlie qualified for the semis following victories in the last 16 and eight matches last month and if he wins he will play Lewis Harrison or Kyle Johnson Rolfe in the decider.

Spectators are welcome at the event.

Charlie, along with fellow Rotherham Golf Club member Lucas Martin, were part of the Yorkshire team which won the Inter County District Championship.

A victory against Northumberland at Dunstanburgh Castle confirmed Yorkshire’s success, with Charlie and Lucas winning their foursomes match 2/1 – and 2/1 was also the score for both players in their afternoon singles victories.

Rotherham trio Gary Sykes, Peter Daughtrey and Graham Dobbs finished seventh in the Yorkshire Seniors Championship at Forest Park, York.

Peter shot one of the day’s lowest scores, with a one-over-par 72. Gary shot 81 and Graham 85.

Waterfront’s head greenkeeper, Richard Jones, was part of the winning Lindrick team.

He carded a three-over-par 74, helping Lindrick to a five-shot win.
