Godfrey: My ear was hanging off

UNLUCKY Byron Godfrey has vowed to be back within a month after a horror injury against Cornish Pirates which left his ear hanging off.

The South African back was accidentally injured in a first-half tackle and even rejoined the play before being told by Clifton Lane medical staff to leave the field and head straight to Rotherham hospital.

The 23-year old ended up with his head swathed in bandages before having 16 stitches to sew the ear back on.

The livewire centre has been told to rest for six weeks\_but he is determined to return to the fray before then.

He said: “It happened in a tackle and I didn’t realise what had happened at first, I thought it was a head injury."
