Gaynor tipped for title charge

PROMOTER Dave Coldwell’s pre-fight fears that Chad Gaynor’s charge up the ranks could be derailed proved unfounded as the Rotherham boxer swept aside the dangerous William Warburton at Magna.

Lancastrian warburton was drafted in as a late replacement, leaving Coldwell worried that Gaynor could come a cropper.

But the Milennium gym welterweight made no mistake to record a comprehensive points win over six rounds, making it nine straight wins since turning pro.

Said Coldwell: “I was nervous but Chad was looking forward to the fight and was pretty impressive.

“Warburton won a title in his previous fight, so this shows the level of competition Chad is up against but I thought he looked good. Warburton told me afterwards that he thinks Chad is going to be a British champion."
