Gate, Main get back on track

PARKGATE and Maltby Main will be desperate to get some football in this weekend after their scheduled Boxing Day derby was scuppered by the weather.

The postponement, due to a waterlogged pitch at Roundwood, means Maltby haven't completed a game for the best part of a month, their previous match against Pontefract Collieries being abandoned due to floodlight failure.

They'll try again away to Nostell MW on Saturday (3pm) where a win could take them up to halfway. Main also go to Division One outfit Penistone Church on Wednesday (7.45pm) for a third round League Cup tie.

Despite a highly creditable draw at home to title-chasing Tadcaster last time out, Gate have slipped to second bottom of the Premier Division after going three months without a league win.

They've a decent chance to snap that run at home to another of the strugglers, Armthorpe Welfare, on Saturday (3pm). Steve Adams' side also host Tadcaster again in the League Cup on Tuesday (7.45pm).
