The home side held off a late rally from their visitors to win 3-2 and card their fourth win of the season in the Northern Counties East League. The Steelmen remain bottom of Division One.

A crowd of more than 200 at the "Swall Siro" saw Frost pounce on a rebound to put Swallownest in front on 18 minutes and then double the advantage with a delicious strike into the top corner just before the break. He could have had a hat-trick on the night.

Parkgate included two recent signings in Ross Duggan and Brad Morton and both were on the scoresheet as manager Scott Mason continues to piece together a competitive squad after a traumatic pre-season.

A minute after Frost's second, Duggan reduced the deficit from close range to set up a fiercely fought second half.

When Lucas Delfaco worked space for himself to slot Swallownest into a 3-1 lead on the hour mark, the home side looked home and dry but a far post header from Morton 18 minutes from time set up a tense finish and it took some strong defending and a smart save by Steve Booth from Duggan to preserve the points for the hosts.

Chairman Martin Morton said: "Parkgate have had some rough times and although we'd like to see them pick up, obviously we put Swalls first. It was a really good game and it is always nice to beat local rivals."
