TWO Rotherham United players have been hit by injuries after leaving in the January transfer window.

Left-back Tolaji Bola and centre-half Jamie McCart made loan exits from AESSEAL New York Stadium in search of regular football, joining Bradford City and Leyton Orient respectively. However, they have spent most of their time on the sidelines at their League Two clubs and have each made only two appearances.

“It’s a real kick in the stomach for them,” said manager Matt Taylor. “We sent them out to get loan football for their benefit as much as our benefit.”

McCart hasn’t played since January 28 because of a calf issue while a hamstring problem has ruled out Bola since February 4.

“Hopefully the injuries aren’t really long-term ones and they’ll play again this season,” Taylor said. “They’re not back with ourselves, they’re doing their rehab with their loan clubs. That suggests they’re relatively close to getting back.”
