A FACE injury which has required two rounds of stitches will rule Jamie Lindsay out of Rotherham United's trip to Stoke City on Tuesday night.

The midfield man was left with a hole in his lip after a clash in a reserve-team outing last Tuesday on his 27th birthday.

The wound was stitched and glued immediately afterwards and manager Matt Taylor initially thought the Scot would be available for yesterday's Championship win over Huddersfield Town.

However, Lindsay needed a second medical intervention and will remain sidelined until next Saturday's visit of Hull City.

"Jamie went to see a consultant who put in extra stitches on Thursday afternoon," Taylor said.

"The cut was still a little bit 'flappy' and open. The consultant said on Thursday he has to be unavailable for a week."

Teenage wing-back Brook Norton-Cuffy was on the bench against the Terriers after having to be substituted at Blackburn Rovers a week earlier and is in contention to face Stoke.

Things didn't rule smoothly for the Arsenal loanee following the Ewood Park encounter, though, and he continued to experience hamstring trouble.

"He had two days' recovery, then in training on Tuesday it almost spasmed; a bit of cramp." said Taylor after the Huddersfield game. "That showed there was still fatigue in his body.

"We don't think there is a strain or a tear but with this spasm there's been a bit of discomfort.

"I was pleased we didn't have to put him on the pitch today. If we had done, it would have been a bit of a risk for a young player who's still finding his way.

"It will be great for him to get another couple of days under his belt going into Tuesday."
