What new boy Sebastian Revan is looking to bring to Rotherham United after his move from Aston Villa

DEADLINE-DAY signing Sebastian Revan knows his main task is to help keep the ball out of the Rotherham United net but he's also set his sights on making an impact at the other end of the pitch.

The Premier League youngster became the Championship Millers' 13th and final acquisition of the summer transfer window a fortnight ago when he agreed a season-long loan switch from Aston Villa.

Revan has been brought in to provide competition for Cohen Bramall for the left-back berth and has spent the international break settling in with his new teammates at Roundwood.

“I'm a left-back who can play anywhere across the back four,” the 20-year-old said. “I can play midfield too. I love to defend and I hope I can add attacking play also. I want to get a lot of one-v-ones, crosses, goals and assists.”

The West-Bromwich-born prospect has been with Villa since he was eight and made his debut for them - watched by Rotherham boss Matt Taylor - in an 3-0 Europa Conference League win over Scottish side Hibernian the night before his arrival at AESSEAL New York Stadium was confirmed

With regular first-team football in the Midlands not on the cards, he wanted to test himself in senior football rather than remain part of the Villains' youth set-up.

“I could have stayed in my comfort zone but I think you never get anywhere in football if you just do that,” he said. “You have to push yourself. This is a new experience for me, coming into such a high level as the Championship.”

Revan found a familiar face waiting to greet him when he turned up at New York a week last Saturday to watch the 2-1 win over Norwich City a week last Saturday: coach Dan Green who was at Villa Park for a year before moving to the Millers in the summer.

“Dan texted me straight away saying he couldn't wait for me to be here,” he said. “It's nice knowing someone when you come to a new club.”

The player is hoping to be named in the squad that travels to Huddersfield Town on Saturday and is relishing what may lie ahead between now and May as he takes the next step in his career.

“I can't wait to be here for the rest of the season, it's going to be a good opportunity for me," he said. “I think it will be absolutely amazing.”
