Time-out for Millers after postponement

ROTHERHAM United’s players will reluctantly rest up this weekend due to the postponement of tomorrow's match with Gillingham.

The heavy snow which has blanketed the country this week put paid to the fixture at the Priestfield Stadium.

With more adverse weather forecast for Kent, it was decided to make an early call. The team had been due to set off this morning but will now train instead before taking a couple of days off.

"It's disappointing the match is off," manager Paul Warne told the Advertiser. "We've trained well this week even in bad conditions and the lads were all ready and prepped for it.

"We had no injury worries or form issues and the games can't come thick and fast enough for us at moment.

"The postponement will give the lads a couple of down days again and then we'll start in earnest again on Monday and prepare for Rochdale next week.”

The cold snap is set to bite into the football programme. Several other clubs decided to hold pitch inspections yesterday, with Oxford's home game with Fleetwood and Bradford against Portsmouth also succumbing to the weather.
