The latest on Rotherham United's intention to sign Julien Lamy

The 19-year-old, who has been contracted to a club in France's lower leagues, can't sign a deal until the end of the 2018/19 campaign because of FIFA regulations governing international moves.

Yet Warne is losing no sleep over the delay and expects the youngster, who impressed in a three-week trial, to be among his ranks on the first day of pre-season training.

"He knows I'm offering him something. I believe it's pretty much agreed," the Millers manager said. "Me and Julien are pretty comfortable in the fact that we both think it's going to happen.

"Unless someone swoops in on his drive up, there isn't going to be a problem. He's got a couple of other options but he wants to come here."

The original intention was for Lamy to link up with the Millers in the final few weeks of this season but that plan has now been revised.

"He'll probably just train with his trainer for now," Warne added. "I don't think I will see him again before the end of the season.

"I saw enough in the two or three weeks he was here. I saw him in two games. I like the kid.

"The lads were great with him. One of the players asked me about him the other day and said he thought he'd be great for us.

"I think it's going to happen. But until the day that he can sign anything can happen."
