THE BIG MATCH: Newell in the mood for derby clash

DETERMINED Joe Newell goes into the battle with Leeds United insisting the Millers still have time to turn their fortunes around.

The Championship table makes depressing reading and the double-digit gap to the fourth bottom side will take some making up, even if those above slip up.

But midfield man Newell says the players have a duty to keep their heads up.

"You have no other choice, we're professionals and that's what we're paid to do," he told the Advertiser.

"It's a long season and if we win and others lose then the gap comes down. There's not a month to go, there's five months to go. It's a long time and things can change.

"All it takes is a three-game unbeaten run and the mood changes and the confidence comes back.

"We've a massive game now, a Yorkshire derby against Leeds United on the TV.

"We've got to be up for it, we can't go down with a whimper, we've got to keep going."
