The club today confirmed that right-back Lee Peltier and centre-half Sean Morrison have agreed terms to return to South Yorkshire.

Peltier was given a one-year contract last July and featured in 36 games as Rotherham kept hold of their second-tier status.

Morrison, who arrived on a short-term deal in the January transfer window after leaving Cardiff City, managed only two matches before suffering season-ending thigh injury but impressed in both outings, which brought a win at home to Blackburn Rovers and a draw at Watford.

The pair were at Roundwood for the start of pre-season training this morning. They are the Millers' first recruits of the summer and both have signed on at AESSEAL New York Stadium for a further 12 months.

Peltier, a vastly-experienced Championship operator, is 36 but his performances last term belied his age.

Thirty-two-year-old Morrison, also a top-end second-tier player for many years, was brought in despite having not played for nearly 12 months because of surgery on a ruptured cruciate knee ligament.

He has worked his way back to fitness since his January misfortune and Rotherham believe his undoubted quality and leadership skills make it worth taking another gamble on his recent injury record. It is likely that his contract will be financially weighted so that the more he plays the more he earns.

Until his ACL issue, he had been a regular Bluebirds starter for the best part of a decade and also wore the captain's armband for a number of seasons.

He and Peltier know each other well, having spent five years at Cardiff City Stadium together.

More signings, in all areas of the team, are in the pipeline as the Millers prepare for life at second-tier level again.
