Stubbs in talks with Millers

Rotherham United will today begin the process of trying to persuade Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs to fill the vacant managerial post at the New York Stadium.

Scottish Cup winners Hibernian 'reluctantly' granted the Millers permission to speak with manager Stubbs (44) last night.

And Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart told the Advertiser last week that if he was given permission to speak with his targets, he could see a deal being wrapped up by today or tomorrow (Wednesday).

Stubbs' playing career saw him turn out for Everton, Sunderland and Celtic among others and he has been in charge at the Easter Road club since 2014.

He led the Scottish Championship side to the Scottish Cup this season for the first time since 1902, beating giants Rangers in the final.
