The centre-half has been out of action since early September following ankle surgery but has been given the go ahead to step up his comeback.

He has trained with the Millers physios on the grass this week and is now looking to rejoin the first-team squad a week on Monday.

"He got the all-clear from his surgeon," said manager Paul Warne who takes his team to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday for their final match before their fortnight-long rest from Championship action.

"The medical team are really pleased with him. He may be a little bit ahead of schedule. We're hopeful he will be in squad training in around 10 days.

"Then it will take him a couple of weeks to get right up to speed. By the end of this month, start of next month, he should be available for selection."

Raggett arrived from Norwich City on a season-long loan and was consolidating his place in the starting 11 when he damaged his ankle at Wigan Athletic.

"Sean did well once he forced his way into the team," Warne said. "He was a definite threat at set-pieces and he's a typical centre-half in my eyes.

"He has been a big miss and we look forward to him coming back."

Rotherham have no fresh injury concerns but they may have to name a new captain for the clash at Ewood Park.

Regular skipper Richard Wood has been on the bench for the last three matches and might not start against Blackburn while stand-in Will Vaulks is suspended.

"I've not thought about it yet," Warne said. "In fairness, I have a changing room full of great human beings. I could select any one of 11 really."
