The centre-half, who was kept out of action last season by a quad issue before signing a new one-year deal in the summer, has been sidelined by another injury.

This time it's a calf complaint affecting the 32-year-old who has struggled for form this term and has been a squad member rather than a regular starter in the Championship.

“There is no immediate time frame on his return,” said manager Matt Taylor. “Sean is slightly older so he doesn't heal quite as quickly.”

The Millers will also be without Grant Hall, Lee Peltier, Jamie Lindsay, Shane Ferguson, Cafu and possibly Cohen Bramall.

Meanwhile, young striker Josh Ayres has signed his first pro contract with the Millers. The 17-year-old has been rewarded for his impact in the youth ranks with a one-year deal that the club have the option to extend by 12 months.

It will kick in when his Scholarship terms expire at the close of this season.
