ROTHERHAM United manager Matt Taylor will be missing from Rotherham United's dugout when the Millers head to Cardiff City for a Championship clash at the weekend, it has been confirmed.

The boss, who has vowed to fight against refereeing errors that he feels are unjustly hitting his side, picked up his third booking of the season on Saturday in the 1-1 home draw with Preston North End at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

He said after the game that a fine and suspension were coming his way and today the FA duly issued a one-match touchline ban that he will serve in South Wales.

The reason they cited was "Showing a lack of respect for the game".

Taylor was cautioned by referee Sam Allison for complaining that there had been a foul on goalkeeper Viktor Johansson in the build-up to Preston's equaliser and that, soon afterwards, play was allowed to go on while Christ Tiehi was down on the turf with a head injury.

“My blood is still boiling now,” he said in his after-match press conference. “It's important I stand up for my players. Injustices happen too often to Rotherham.

“I'll pay the fine because the club won't pay it and I'll keep on doing that because if I don't then no-one will talk about the issue.

“It's wrong and I have to keep on highlighting that it's wrong. Do I just stand there and let it happen? I can't do that. I have to somehow find a way of highlighting the deficiencies in that (refereeing) department.

The boss maintains he made his objections in a proper manner.

“I'm quite a respectful guy, I try to conduct myself in the right way,” he said. “I'd never been booked before this season as a manager. It's my sixth season. That tells a bit of a story.”

This season, the Millers have already been hit by two dismissals - Cafu at Stoke City and Fred Onyedinma at home to Blackburn Rovers - for which referees group PGMOL subsequently apologised.

In addition, they had a goal disallowed against Leicester City for an infringement no worse than the Preston one in the build-up to the Lilywhites' leveller.
