Rotherham United make contract offers to two key men ... here's what Matt Hamshaw has to say

New manager Matt Hamshaw isn't pressing for immediate answers but neither will he wait around for too long as he gets down to the job of reviving the club's fortunes after a disappointing League One campaign.
There was little chance of either player, both of whom are due to become free agents in the summer, agreeing to stay on under previous boss Steve Evans.

"Offers have been made to them," Hamshaw told the Advertiser this morning. "There are a number of considerations.
"Other clubs may offer them more money or higher-division status. I know they are both really happy here but they might feel they need a change. They have been here for a long time. That's fine.
"All we can do is try to keep our best players here. I would have, obviously, liked it if these contract negotiations had happened earlier, but the situation is what it is.
"We'll see. The offers we have made are good ones."

The Millers travel to Stevenage on Sunday and then have a final-day home clash with Peterborough United the following Saturday.
Hamshaw is already deep into his planning for pre-season and next term and needs to know where he stands with the duo as soon as possible.
"I don't really want to say there's a deadline on it but, at the same time, I can't keep it running because I need to build my squad," he said.

The Manchester United loanee was with Rotherham over the weekend, then spent some time back with his parent club this week when, because of days off and injuries, the Millers didn't hold full training sessions.
He was at Roundwood today with the rest of Hamshaw's squad.
"He'll be on in the last 20 minutes at Stevenage," the boss said.
Midfield man Liam Kelly and striker Jordan Hugill may also get run-outs off the bench at the Lamex Stadium after being out because of sickness and a personal issue respectively.

"It's not that I don't want to play them, physically it's too much of a risk. They could end up with long-term injuries if I took unnecessary risks with them."
