The 40-year-old, who led Exeter City to League Two promotion last season, has been confirmed as the successor to Paul Warne at the Championship Millers.

The deal was finally concluded after two days of talks between the clubs and was officially announced this afternoon.

He is due meet the media at AESSEAL New York Stadium later today.

Chorley-born Taylor was offered the job late last week and by Sunday had decided to accept it.

A complication involving 'unresolved legalities' saw negotiations drag on for longer than either Rotherham or the Grecians wanted them to.

Taylor helped Exeter return to the Football League as a centre-half in 2008 before moving on to other clubs.

He became manager at St James Park in 2018 following the departure of Paul Tidsdale.
