ROTHERHAM United left their Murcia training camp and flew back to England with three injury concerns following their last-day friendly in Spain.

The Millers yesterday went down 1-0 to Elche, who played in the Spanish top division, LaLiga, last season, and senior players midfielder Jamie Lindsay and right-back Lee Peltier reported issues afterwards.

Teenage winger Joel Holvey suffered an impact injury which is believed to be the most serious of the three.

"There's a slight worry with Jamie and, potentially, Lee," said manager Matt Taylor who didn't specify what the problems are.

All three players will be assessed at the club's Roundwood base now that the pre-season trip is over.

Meanwhile, wide man Sullay Kaikai, a free agent after parting company with MK Dons, cut short his trial after spending the first couple of days of the week-long stay in Murcia with the Millers.

"It was a real shame," Taylor said. "He had to go home for personal reasons. The Elche game would have been a good opportunity for him to impress."

It is not yet known if the 27-year-old former Blackpool man will be given another chance to try to earn a contract at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Rotherham are next in action on Wednesday evening in a home friendly against fellow Championship side Middlesbrough as they gear up for the August 5 start of their second-tier campaign.

That match might come too soon for strikers Josh Kayode and Tom Eaves and winger Shane Ferguson who missed the Spanish trip but are due back in full training shortly.

All three may be given an outing at Mansfield Town next Saturday.
