Although he is not yet ready to challenge senior duo Viktor Johansson and Josh Vickers for a first-team place, he has done enough to be awarded a one-year contract with an option in the club's favour to extend it by a further 12 months.

Rotherham goalkeeping coach Andy Warrington said: "Josh is a promising young goalkeeper who has fitted right in with us since joining training over the last few weeks.

"He comes in to add to a goalkeeping department that we are already very happy with. I am sure that he will learn a lot from both Josh and Viktor.

"He comes from a great family and is a lovely kid who wants to learn."

The Worksop-born shot-stopper came though the age groups with  the Blades and was a regular starter in their under-18s side last season.
