CHRIST Tiehi's confirmation as a Rotherham United player is just “a matter of time”, says manager Matt Taylor.

The Millers are in the process of obtaining a work permit to allow them to complete the signing of the midfielder from Czech Republic side Slovan Liberec.

The 25-year-old is already in Rotherham and has watched the club's last four pre-season friendlies.

“It's going the right way,” Taylor said. “It's just a matter of time now. We're just waiting for the news to come through that what we need is there, then the transfer can happen.”

The Millers are paying Liberec a significant fee to land Tiehi. A work permit is required because he's an overseas player who doesn't hold a British passport.

Rotherham have yet to receive bids for any of their top players but Taylor will be a happy man when the offers start to arrive. The boss wants to hold on to most of his senior squad yet doesn't mind star performers like Viktor Johansson and Cameron Humphreys being wanted men.

“Hopefully we will have some nice problems where we get interest in them,” he said. “I know it causes questions from the media about potential departures but that's what we want because it means the players are doing well.”
