New York Stadium evacuated after "suspect package" found
HUNDREDS of people were forced to evacuate the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday evening after Rotherham’s home defeat to South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley.
Players still in their kit mingled with fans, corporate guests and staff outside the ground around 20 minutes after the final whistle after just after 5pm when a “suspect package” was found in the west stand of the New York Way venue.
Those evacuated were allowed back inside the stadium around 20 minutes later after a police investigation found the package to be harmless.
