New update on Rotherham United's pursuit of Steve McClaren
ROTHERHAM United are moving ever closer to the appointment of former England boss Steve McClaren in a restructure of their football operation.
The Millers are keen to create a high-ranking ‘overseeing’ role above the level of manager and the 64-year-old is the man they want.

Several rounds of discussions have been held and the Advertiser understands that an agreement is now in place.
Barring any late hitches, his unveiling is likely to be confirmed to the public in the next 48 hours.
An exact title has yet to be revealed but it is set to be along the lines of director of football or head of football.
McClaren was in charge of the national team in 2006 and 2007 and is also vastly experienced in a club environment.
He was number two at Manchester United during he reign of Sir Alex Ferguson and has been the boss of Middlesbrough, Newcastle United, Derby County, Queens Park Rangers and Dutch side FC Twente.
He will be allowed to appoint his choice of manager or head coach as the Millers prepare for life in League Two following their relegation from the third tier.
The hot-seat is vacant since the departure of short-term boss Lee Clark earlier this month.
McClaren’s last job was as head coach of the Jamaica national squad, a role he left late last year.
