NEW boy Cafu found two familiar faces waiting to greet him when he became Rotherham United's sixth summer signing.

The club this morning announced the capture of the Portuguese midfielder on a one-year deal and he will be flying out this evening with the first-team squad for a week-long training camp in Murcia, Spain.

He knows Millers centre-half Tyler Blackett and coach Brent Dickinson from their time together at Nottingham Forest.

"They are very good guys and have already welcomed me," the 30-year-old said.

Cafu has had an impressive career, winning league titles with Polish side Legia Warsaw and Greek team Olympiacos and playing in the Champions League.

He joined Forest in February 2020 and helped them reach the Premier League, although he made only one appearance in the top flight last season.

He left the City Ground outfit in May after 73 games and had become a free agent when Rotherham made their move for him.

"I'm happy to be here," he said. "I can't wait to help the boys. I am the kind of player who always wants the ball, someone who will take risks.

"Everyone knows the Championship is a tough, tough league. I'm here to give my best and help the club achieve stability in it."
