THE door has not closed on a return to the New York Stadium for Carlton Morris.

The striker is back at parent club Norwich City after a testing Championship loan spell with Rotherham United in which he made a dozen appearances without scoring.

The 21-year-old still has potential and Millers number two Richie Barker, who has the player on his radar before, believes some experience further down the football ladder could benefit him.

He told the Advertiser: "Carlton was on my list when I was at MK Dons. The Championship was a big jump for him, could it be he is more effective in League One? It could be he needs to take a slight step back to move forward again.

"Warney (Paul Warne) had a decent relationship with him. I don't think (a return) is imminent but if it is something we think will benefit us and the boy then who knows?"

New deal...for Jerry Yates.

Although Rotherham were today linked with a season-long loan move for Norwich goalkeeper Michael McGovern, no signings are expected through the door this week and the market isn't expected to really start moving until next month.

"A couple of chats are going on today but I will be amazed if anyone nails their colours to the mast in the next 48 hours," added Barker.

Meanwhile, striker Jerry Yates has signed a new deal until 2020. His current deal had a year remaining but he was offered fresh terms.

Pick up this week's Advertiser for the latest on Danny Ward's transfer situation and the three out-of-contract players offered new deal.
