MATCHDAY CENTRE: Millers and Toon fans share the love on social media

ROTHERHAM town centre became a sea of black and white stripes for most of Saturday afternoon.

As the ‘Toon Army’ made their maiden visit to the AESSEAL New York Stadium and their first league visit to the town for 34 years, all 2,587 of the travelling Newcastle United faithful made their presence felt.

But not in a bad way.

Millers fans waxed lyrical about the atmosphere created by the fans from the North East on social media following the 1-0 defeat to Rafa Benitez's men, while Newcastle fans reciprocated the goodwill.

The rare sight of two sets of supporters coming together before, during and after the game was a sight to behold and social media was awash with complementary messages.
