CAMERON Humphreys is set to be out of action until after the next international break after Rotherham United's injury curse struck again in their Championship clash with high-flying Preston North End.

The centre-half went down clutching his hamstring as he chased down an opponent on the stroke of half-time at AESSEAL New York Stadium yesterday and had to be replaced at the interval.

The Millers were already without seven potential first-teamers for the 1-1 draw against the unbeaten Lilywhites and were two players short on their bench.

"It's not good," said manager Matt Taylor. "That was a pop of a hamstring if I've ever seen one. It was an explosive moment where Cam felt like he'd been shot from behind. It's a real shame for him.

"I have no words to describe what we're going through with injuries at the moment."

Rotherham head to Cardiff City next Saturday, then have Wednesday home match with Bristol City before the October 7 trip to Southampton takes them into the next fortnight-long lull in the second-tier schedule.

Humphreys will be scanned tomorrow, with the Millers already virtually certain that the 25-year-old will be ruled out of all three fixtures. Their next game after those is the Friday-night visit of Ipswich Town on October 20.

"I'm expecting Cam to be out for several weeks," Taylor said.

Humphreys' absence leaves Rotherham with only one fit central defender in Tyler Blackett as Grant Hall (hamstring) and Sean Morrison (calf) are both in the treatment room.
