INJURED defender Bailey Wright is wearing a protective boot as Rotherham United seek minimise the amount of time he spends out of action.

The footwear is only precautionary and the 30-year-old’s calf issue is not thought to be too serious.

However, the centre-half is still set to miss Saturday’s Championship trip to Birmingham City.

“He’s in a boot because we’re trying to prevent anything going through his calf,” manager Matt Taylor said. “We don’t see it as being a major tear but there’s certainly a problem there of some sort.”

Wright was making his fifth Millers appearance last Saturday when he experienced tightness at half-time in the 3-1 win over QPR at AESSEAL New York Stadium. Despite being in discomfort, he managed to complete the game.

“He’ll do well to be available this weekend and the middle of next week (Preston North End at home on Tuesday),” Taylor said.
