The Millers (4-3-3)

Viktor Johansson: 8

Looked the best goalkeeper in the Championship last season and nothing has changed this term. Made an excellent stop in the first half while the double save in the second was game-saving and one of the highlights of the contest. His kicking has improved hugely too.

Dexter Lembikisa: 8

A box of tricks. A mix of skill and rawness. A pleasure to watch - mostly. Going forward, he's a real threat. Going backwards, he's naive enough to be exploited at times. Kept his discipline well in the second half in an unfamiliar position. Great to see. This game will have helped his development.

Cameron Humphreys: 6

Showed his usual calmness on the ball and made some key clearances but was being tested by the strength of Preston centre-forward Milutin Osmajic before departing with an injury.

Tyler Blackett: 8

Rotherham needed him to step up in Humphreys' absence and, boy, did he step up. Led by example. Strong and committed.

Cohen Bramall: 7

Not always where he should be but his pace is such an asset. Gets to the ball at times when he has no right to. Did a really solid, diligent job filling in at centre-half. Impressive.

Ollie Rathbone: 7

Love him. Epitomises everything the Millers are about. Another in a long line of all-action contributions.

Christ Tiehi: 8

Has he put in a poor performance yet? Good in all areas of the game. Blocked holes when he was defending, found holes when he was attacking and had the engine to do it from start to finish.

Sam Clucas: 7

Added calmness, control and a touch of class to the Millers on his home debut. Comfortable on the ball in tight areas and always made the right pass. Looking forward to seeing him when he's up to full speed.

Andre Green: 6

Blessed with pace, touch and vision. Should make a bit more happen than he does with that skill set.

Jordan Hugill: 8

Hasn't had the best of starts to the season, but this was a proper centre-forward's display. Rattled the Preston backline with his physicality and his goal was a just reward for not giving up when plenty of other players would have.

Fred Onyedinma: 6

Enjoyed one or two lively moments but this was one of his quieter days. Worked hard in a wing-back role when the Millers were forced into a formation switch at the interval.

"It’s a fantastic point for us. Coming here was always going to be tough. We would have loved three points, of course, but we say if you can’t win it, don’t lose it.

"We thought we opened them up enough to get the winner but it wasn’t to be.

"We were disappointed to concede but it’s a great goal from Jordan. Credit where it’s due. Both teams were looking to win it. I thought they had some flashes and good moments.

"They huffed and puffed a little bit but lacked a bit of quality. So did we. A little bit of luck was on our side. We thought this would be one of our hardest games of the season and it was.

"We had the opportunities, we just did not have that moment of brilliance. We probably could not have done any more other than put the ball in the back of the net."

- Lilywhites boss Ryan Lowe
