ROTHERHAM United chief Paul Warne says he wants to furnish his squad with at least one more striker as he approaches the end of his summer recruitment push.

Striker David Ball and another attack-minded player, Ryan Williams, both joined the ranks this week and will compete for forward positions with the likes of Jonson Clarke-Harris and Jerry Yates.

But Warne, who is tracking Bolton Wanderers forward man Jamie Proctor and Forest Green Rovers' Christian Doidge, admits he needs more options.

"I need another striker at least, I might even bring two in," he told the Advertiser.

"There is one I'm trying to get through the door in the next few days and there's the potential to bring another one in, whether that is a bit later on, I don't know."

On Proctor, he added: "I do like him, he's one of my targets because he can play as a target man, he can bring people into the game and he's pretty athletic and I think if he was to play in our team, with the strength in depth we have in the middle of the park, he would get chances to score.

"He would be a decent addition but there are a few options out there for us at the moment."

Jamie Proctor: a possible option for Paul Warne.

Striker Danny Ward is expected to leave for Cardiff City very soon while there are still question marks about Dexter Blackstock's future at the club.

Added Warne: "I think the squad looks a bit stronger and better balanced than this time last year and in that respect I'm pretty happy. I just need some more fire power, that's all."
