Do missing men Shane Ferguson and Tom Eaves have any chance of making Rotherham United's clash against champions-elect Burnley?

SHANE Ferguson has undergone an injection as Rotherham United look to involve the winger in Tuesday's showdown with table-topping Burnley.

Manager Matt Taylor wants to see more set-piece threat from his 18th-placed side and hopes to make use of the 31-year-old's accuracy in the Championship clash at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Ferguson has been sidelined for the last two matches, including yesterday's home loss to Luton Town, by the problem in his pubis area/stomach region that has bothered him for several months.

"Shane had his injection on Tuesday and trained only on Friday," Taylor revealed. "With the change in our starting formation (from 4-3-3 to 3-5-2) and with Cohen (Bramall ) on the bench, it was difficult to get Shane on there as well.

"He's got a chance of starting on Tuesday. I've mentioned the set-pieces ... good delivery from those is something he almost guarantees you.

"His issue is a continued worry. I don't think we've ever got to the bottom of it. I don't think he ever feels free of it. Injections only mask certain aspects. You don't want a player to keep being injected in any area let alone there."

The Millers head into the clash against the already-promoted Clarets three points clear of the drop zone with only five matches left to play. They have a game in hand on all their survival rivals with the exception of Cardiff City and boast the best goal difference of all the teams in the bottom seven.

Another player who could be back in the reckoning on Tuesday is striker Tom Eaves who has been laid low by hip trouble.

"Tom struggled throughout the week and trained only on Friday after a scan on Thursday," Taylor said. "He'd not done enough training (for the Luton match), plus his game's not been quite there in terms of selection.

The centre-forward has yet to open his Rotherham account since his summer move to New York and has had no first-team action since February.

Speaking on Saturday evening, Taylor said: "He's struggled a little bit since that Bolton Wanderers friendly during the international break. He's not felt quite right. We de-loaded him and gave him four or five days off his feet to try to nip it in the bud. He's got a chance for next week."
