Decision was for the best, says Warnock

NEIL Warnock has thanked everyone at Rotherham United for their support over the last three months — and insists his departure is in the best interests of both parties.

Speaking exclusively to the Advertiser this afternoon, he said he had loved his short time at the AESSEAL New York Stadium but said the club needed a manager who can stay for the longer term.

"Rotherham is a project, it needs someone who can take it on for a couple of years and build the club up off the field as well as on it," he said.

"The chairman has been brilliant and I couldn't ask him to wait any longer. I just think it's the best for both parties in the long-term.

"I've really enjoyed it and I want to thank everyone, including the fans.

"The chairman has an ally in future if he wants an unbiased opinion from a football person on anything he wants to talk about."

There is much more from Neil Warnock in this week's Advertiser.
