BEN Wiles' decision on his Rotherham United future hinges on the kind of offer the club make him during talks over a new deal.

The midfield man is in his final year with the Millers after they activated a 12-month extension clause and many observers have tipped his sale before the end of next season

However, the 24-year-old, who came through the youth ranks, says he's ready to extend his long stay at AESSEAL New York Stadium as long as things fall into place around the negotiating table.

“I've loved my time here,” he told the Advertiser. “It's so close to home and somewhere I've really moulded to over the years. I'm like part of the furniture now. If the deal is right there is no reason why I'm not going to sign it.”

Wiles, brought up in Rawmarsh and now living in Wickersley, joined the Millers when he was nine and has made 190 appearances since his first-team breakthrough in the 2018/19 campaign.

He has been a stand-out performer in League One and has also proved himself to be a quality Championship operator. The signature of such a key man would be a real boost for Rotherham as they look to build on their second-tier survival last term.

Burnley, who went on to be promoted to the Premier League, made several seven-figure bids for the player's services last summer and, a year on, other suitors are lurking as discussions between his representative and the Millers take place.

“My agent is speaking to the club,” Wiles said. “It's just back and forth at the minute. I'm still a young player and there will be a bit of interest from other teams, but then you're waiting to see if something actually comes of it. We’ll see what happens.”

Manager Matt Taylor says that he would like the matter to be resolved within the next few weeks.

The player admitted the Burnley interest unsettled him but he was back to his best form by the time he hit a famous winner against Sheffield United in the November derby at Bramall Lane before an ankle injury sustained against Stoke City on Boxing Day ruled him out for four months.

He returned towards the end of last season and has played a full part in pre-season proceedings.

“I've got a year left so I'm a Rotherham player,” he said. “My main focus is to try to impress our gaffer and get into the starting 11.”
