ROTHERHAM United today lost one of their strikers when Norwich City recalled Carlton Morris from his loan spell at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The 24-year-old immediately joined MK Dons on loan for the rest of the season.

The Millers are in second spot in League On while MK are towards the foot of the table.

The Advertiser understands that the forward, who has scored four goal in 28 appearances for Rotherham this term, has moved on in the January transfer window for personal reasons.

"Everyone at Rotherham United would like to thank Carlton for his efforts and wish him the best for the future," said a club statement.

Cambridge-born Morris told the MK Dons website: “I’m over the moon. There were a few clubs interested in me but this was the most attractive option for me for various reasons.

"The team plays an attractive brand of football under the new manager and I know a few people here too.

MK are managed by Russell Martin, a defender at Carrow Road at the same time as Morris, and the frontman added: “Me and Russ have been close for years. He was very helpful to me as a young pro coming through at Norwich.

"I’ve always appreciated that and now I have the opportunity to work under him. It was an opportunity I didn’t want to pass up on."

Morris, a popular figure in the Millers camp, rarely started in his favoured central striking role for Rotherham and was often used on the flanks.

Millers boss Paul Warne is looking to add to his attacking options in the window.
