Brick scheme on supporters' agenda

RECOGNITION for supporters who supported the doomed Buy a Brick scheme at Millmoor is to be on the agenda of the New Stadium Fans’ Working Party.

Many supporters paid for specially inscribed commemorative bricks to be incorporated in the planned new main stand at the Millers’ former home but then saw their money and their dreams go to waste when the financial bubble burst and the stand never got completed.

With work on the new stadium at the Guest and Chrimes site due to start next year, subject to planning consent, there is a desire that the short-changed supporters should be recognised in some way.

The Buy a Brick issue is one of the discussion topics the New Stadium Fans’ Working Party intends to raise in meetings with the club.

Speaking at the annual general meeting of the Millers Trust, held at the Carlton Park Hotel, chairman Mark Thomas said: “There is a feeling that it would be nice if the people who contributed were remembered in a Buy a Brick or Honours Board scheme.”
