Boss Matt Taylor delivers stark warning about his Rotherham United squad

THE relentless fixture schedule has left some Rotherham United players at 'breaking point' going into this weekend's clash with Championship high-fliers Norwich City, says manager Matt Taylor.

The Millers were hit by two stoppage-time goals last night as they went down 3-2 at league leaders Burnley and manager Matt Taylor warned afterwards that some of his men are struggling to physically cope.

A sequence of nine matches in 28 days in the run-up to the World Cup break later this month is taking a heavy toll, particularly as it involves five of the last six matches being away from home.

"You saw the second half unfold," said Taylor at Turf Moor. The players were out on their feet. I just hope it hasn't taken too much out of them - which it probably has - going into Saturday.

"It's an incredible run of games in terms of the demands on the squad. The players are being forced to push themselves to their absolute limit. Some are visibly at breaking point."

Centre-half Jamie McCart picked up an injury during the warm-up before the Burnley clash. He remained among the substitutes but there was no chance of him playing.

"It's a strain - a quad or a hamstring; I don't have the full details yet," Taylor said. "I couldn't put him on the pitch."

The encounter saw the welcome return of Chiedozie Ogbene after a five-game absence with a hamstring issue and the attacker responded by scoring his six goal of the campaign within seconds of coming on as a second-half sub.

"We needed legs, we needed pace," Taylor said. "When he runs at goal and gets the centre-halves on the back foot he's a scary beast.

"We've missed him. It's great to have him back. We have to be careful with him. We'll assess him going into the weekend."

Rotherham head into the AESSEAL New York Stadium showdown with fifth-placed Norwich in 14th spot.

They will be without wing-back Cohen Bramall who will be serving a one-match for his dismissal against the Clarets.
