Both have been back in training this week yet aren’t being fully tested at the club's Roundwood base until today and tomorrow.

“They have got to tick off a few more boxes but they're moving in the right direction,” manager Matt Taylor said. “Potentially, both could make the squad. I'm still hopeful. They trained on Tuesday and we have to make sure there is no reaction.”

Playmaker Cafu has missed the last three matches with a hamstring niggle while centre-half Hall has had more severe hamstring trouble and has yet to play this season.

Lee Peltier, who hasn't featured since he suffered calf damage on August 5 opening day, has trained fully this week and Taylor could name the right-back in the matchday 20 for the clash in South Wales.

Saturday's encounter may come just too soon for Cafu and Hall but both are expected to be ready for the midweek visit of Bristol City.

“It depends on how much team training they've done as to whether I can put them on the pitch at Cardiff,” Taylor said. “They'll almost definitely be available on Wednesday.”
