A DATE with a specialist will decide whether Rotherham United midfielder Jamie Lindsay can begin to put three months of injury frustration behind him.

The midfielder has been sidelined since the early stages of pre-season by an achilles problem and has been given an injection in a bid to speed up his comeback.

He has been booked in for a visit to a medical expert a week tomorrow for an update on his progress.

“He'll see a specialist to see if the injection has calmed down that achilles area,” manager Matt Taylor said. “Hopefully he will get the green light to recommence a bit of physical work.”

Lindsay was nearing a return before the international break but then suffered a setback.

“There was a reaction when he was getting close to full contact training,” Taylor said. “We've just tried to settle it back down again.”

The 27-year-old Scot played in the opening summer friendly against non-league Parkgate at the beginning of July but then reported feeling discomfort the following week during a warm-weather camp in Murcia, Spain.
