South Yorkshire Police have since spoken to a 23-year-old Rotherham man.
“He has been voluntarily interviewed and reported on summons, in connection with the ongoing investigation into reported online racial abuse,” said a spokeswoman.
The man has been reported on summons for offences under the Communications Act 2003 - a provision of which is making a criminal offence of posting “a malicious communication using social media”, and under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, which was brought in to introduce rulings specific to “racially aggravated” offences.
