Foley off as Titans lose in cup

A RED card for Ben Foley proved crucial as Titans were beaten at London Welsh in the British and Irish Cup.

The wing was dismissed early in the second half for a dump tackle on centre Joe Lewis and the home side made the extra man count by running in five tries to sentence Justin Burnell's men to a 40-24 defeat.

Titans were leading 15-7 at the time of the dismissal, Foley having touched down early on and Lloyd Evans adding the conversion.

Flanker Dan Thomas raced in for a try on his debut and Evans added the other points with the boot before the match was turned on its head. Evans kicked 14 points in all.

The defeat leaves Rotherham with a win and a defeat from their two Pool 2 games. They resume their campaign against Munster in December.

Burnell's men return to Championship action at home to Cornish Pirates on Saturday (3pm).
