Evans targets two more

ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans hopes to sign two more players before Saturday's Championship opener against MK Dons.

Evans has brought in 11 new faces this summer and gave a run-out to left-back Joe Newell from Peterborough United in Saturday's win against FSV Mainz.

While Newell remains of interest, the Millers are also closing in on two more targets.

Evans said: "We know who we'd like to add. We've made an offer for a loan player and we're talking to another club about a permanent transfer.

"The important thing now is to add players who are different or improve what we've got. To do that is difficult because we have recruited really well and are significantly stronger than last year, but so is the league."

The pre-season build-up concludes with a behind-closed-doors game at Sunderland tomorrow.
